LWA Rapid Response Land Conservation Fund

In 2023, to enrich the ways we proactively protect the lake, we launched the LWA Rapid Response Land Conservation Fund.

This fund is designed to help us be in a position to acquire and preserve land around the lake and the watershed. The first purchase we secured in 2022 partnership with Somerset Woods, through the generosity of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Now, we’re establishing a way for us to be able to move quickly as and when other parcels of land become available.

On June 21st, 2023, we announced a new partnership and fund to continue these efforts. The Lake Wesserunsett Association has been working hand in hand with Somerset Woods and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture to help protect and preserve the lake watershed region. The watershed is the land and wetlands around the lake which drain into the lake, and it's an important part of our mission to help protect this area as well as the lake. The LWA launched a fund to help us be able to act quickly to protect the lake and watershed. You can read more about it in this article from the Portland Press Herald. And you can donate here:
